Welcome to Terrebonne Community School’s
Title 1A Reading Program
My name is Janine Attlesperger and I am Terrebonne Community School’s new Title 1A Reading Specialist. Formally from Grants Pass, I have spent the past eleven years as a K-12 Reading Specialist in Central Pennsylvania. I am happy to be back home and excited to work with students at Terrebonne!
I will be working with you and your child’s teacher to figure out exactly what each child needs to strengthen his reading skills. In Title 1 our goal is to help your child attain confidence in those skills as quickly as possible so she can successfully participate in the classroom. I also try to instill a love of reading books so that every child understands the importance of reading as a lifelong skill.
Each day I will read with your child in a small group during Walk to Read. I will provide an additional block of time 3-5 days per week to teach remedial reading skills at a time convenient with the classroom teacher. During this intensive teaching time I use research-based direct instruction materials and engaging software to address the individual needs of each child. Please be assured that I will not interrupt core instructional time and that your child will receive both classroom curriculum and additional reading instruction.
It is a top priority for me to work with you as a partner in your child’s learning. Throughout the year I will provide opportunities for you to learn about how you can help support your child with reading at home.
I am excited to be working as a member of the Terrebonne Community to help every child become a successful reader!
